We do this with the truth of God's Word!! Remember, You cannot be full of JOY while thinking sad thoughts.You cannot experience the LOVE of God while thinking thoughts of rejection.You cannot experience Peace while thinking anxious thoughts. We know from scripture that, "As a man thinks, so is he".
We will discover that the renewal process is an adjustment to the truth. It doesn’t change what truth is, it just transforms our minds to the truth.

Why is this SO important? Because our soul (mind will and emotions) and spirit are NOT the same. They are connected and they do affect one another. If we have an unhealthy soul it will weaken our spirit. An unhealthy soul will have conflict with truth. It will cause us to trip and slow us down so that we cannot run the race that is in front of us.
